Olympique Marseille vs Rennes Match Preview

Jan 20th features a match where Olympique Marseille will play host to Rennes in a meeting of these two Coupe de France teams. Weather on match day is looking like a windy and cool day, with daytime temperatures of only 5 degrees, which will make playing unpleasant. Olympique Marseille is fresh off their 3-1 win against Lorient. Terem Moffi struck first for Lorient in the 29th minute, then in the 38th minute, Cengiz Ünder sent in a beautiful pass which was converted by Sead Kolašinac But fortunately they were able to complete the comaback in the 53rd minute on a goal by Alexis Sánchez. With 19 points in their last 10 matches Olympique Marseille should be reasonably happy with their performance, while in their last match, Rennes recorded a 1-0 shutout win against Paris Saint Germain. Hamari Traore struck first for Rennes in the 65th minute on a feed from Adrien Truffert, and with that single goal the scoring was complete. Neither team could manage anything else In the end, Paris Saint Germain couldn’t muster any offence and Rennes ran away with the shutout win. Rennes looks to continue their winning ways, having 7 wins in their last 10 matches.

These two teams have not yet played each other this season, so it will be interesting how the match turns out. Last season these teams were evenly matched with 1 win each.

Benjamin Bourigeaud has been the most prolific scorer on Rennes in his last five matches with two goals. For Olympique Marseille, their top scorers are Nuno Tavares and Jordan Veretout, each having 2 goals in their last 5 matches.
