Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Preview

On Saturday Jan 21st, in week 21, Liverpool hosts Chelsea in a clash of the Premier League. Weather on match day is looking like a cloudy and cold day, with daytime temperatures of only 3 degrees, so hopefuly the match makes up for the weather. Liverpool is fresh off their 1-0 shutout win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Harvey Elliott struck first for Liverpool in the 13th minute, and that single goal was all that was necessary as neither team could manage any more scoring In the end, Wolverhampton Wanderers was frustrated by Liverpool’s defence and couldn’t put any tallies on the board. Liverpool ended the match with the shutout victory. Liverpool should be reasonably happy with their recent performance, earning 18 points in their last 10 matches, while chelsea sits at 10th place in the tables. In their last match they recorded a 1-0 shutout win against Crystal Palace. Kai Havertz scored the first goal for Chelsea in the 64th minute, and that single goal was all that was necessary as neither team could manage any more scoring In the end, Crystal Palace couldn’t muster any offence and Chelsea ran away with the shutout win. They’re hoping to improve on their recent performance, having lost 5 of their last 10.

Chelsea and Liverpool last played eachother at the Stamford Bridge on the 14th of May. Liverpool took the match by a score of 0 to 0. Neither Chelsea nor Liverpool could manage to put one past the goalie. They had 7 and 22 shots on net respectively, but no one could score, and the match ended in a scoreless draw,.

Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly are the top scorers for Chelsea in the last five matches, but unfortunately they only have one goal. It’s hard to imagine having success with those stats. Wout Faes has been the most prolific scorer on Liverpool in his last five matches with 2 goals

Luis Díaz, Roberto Firmino, Virgil van Dijk, Arthur, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nuñez are unavailable to play for Jürgen Klopp’s team, while Graham Potter’s squad will be without Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulišić, N’Golo Kanté, Reece James, Denis Zakaria, João Félix and Edouard Mendy.
