Inter Milan could try and include Ivan Perisic as part of a cash-plus-player deal for Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
The 30-year-old winger was a target for Jose Mourinho at United and he was linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in January, while Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed that West Ham United had entered the race to sign him in April.
Perisic was a regular starter for Luciano Spalletti last season, and hit eight goals and four assists as Inter finished fourth ahead of AC Milan.
The Nerazzurri though have since replaced Spalletti with former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who himself is looking to shape his squad ahead of the new season.
And Perisic’s future at Inter was thrown into doubt on Saturday when Conte hinted that he may leave the club after his poor performance against the Red Devils in a 1-0 friendly defeat.
“We are working but the answers are not positive,” Conte said of Perisic. “I don’t think he is adapting to the role that I asked him to do.
“The only place he can play right now is as a striker. On the other hand, I saw Dalbert applying himself greatly in this match.
“We have to improve so much from all points of view. We have a lot of work to do and we will do it.”
And Calciomercato claims that United are ‘still at the window’ for Perisic and that Inter will ‘try to insert the Croatian into the Lukaku affair’.
Recent reports have claimed that United received a 60 million euros (£54million) bid from Inter last week, which was rejected out of hand as it falls well short of their valuation.
It is understood United want a fee of around £75m for the Belgium international as they try to recoup the fee they paid Everton in 2017.
And Calciomercato think that by offering Perisic plus cash that Inter can ‘resolve two delicate situations with a single move’.
